Is it an AMT or a Ruger conversion? Went digging through some old stuff and came up with an AMT ad if it's a Lightning/AMT the ad says:
4 barrel length options 6 1/2, 8 1/2, 10 1/2, 12 1/2,
Clarke trigger w/adjustable stops
standard sights w/windage adjustments
grooved for scope mount
squared off trigger guard for two hand holding
interchangalbe barrels 5"-12 1/2"
stainless steel
button rifled
diamond finished barrels
custom match barrels out of the box
custom wrap around grips
also there were bull barrels available and adjustable (Micro) sights available at extra cost for what its worth it also states LIFETIME WARRANTY

Some of the verbage tells me they are AMT barrels. They are: Optional barrel lengths; standard sights w/windage adjustments; grooved for scope mount; diamond finished barrels; button rifled. Also there is certain verbage that tells me it is an AMT pistol. They are: Clarke trigger w/adjustable stops & squared off trigger guard for two hand holding. Of course without seeing the pics I can't say for sure but it sure sounds like an AMT set.

On January 19, 2006 there was an AMT Lightning with the 16"  bbl offered for sale in GUNSAMERICA by the FFL ~ Boise Gun Company.  GunsAmerica auction # 976678180.  I printed off a copy of the sale listing with the photo.  The asking price was $599.00 plus $15 shipping within the lower 48.

I wish I had purchased it and must have been brain Dead.

Some time earlier there was one for sale on Gunbroker.  The fellow that had it for sale claimed the AMT Lightning pistol with the 16" bbl were very rare and if memory serves me correctly, stated only about a dozen were actually made ... compete pistols with the AMT ss lightning lower and wood grips.

I was not aware there were 16" barrels for pistols sold individually.

I found this site because I was seeking information on a long barrel AMT that I own and am looking to sell.  It has a 10 1/2 inch bull barrel mounted in what I've always thought was a Ruger frame.  It has a Bushnell Centurion 2.5 Scope mounted above the windage adjustable sites.  It's in as close to perfect condition as possible, no scrapes, no mars, pretty much as it must have come out of the box originally.  Looks like it should bring $550 to $600.  Now the question, does anyone here know where I should list it for sale or have any better idea of value.  Thanks, Jim

Jim,

Gunbroker would be my choice. I would list as a 30 day auction and see what happens. Your price may be a little high but some may be willing to pay even more. Ya never know. Tongue

Is the frame blue or stainless steel? If it is a AMT Lightning it will be stainless only and you can see the differences by comparing your frame to a Ruger frame, look at the trigger guard closely, the front of it for different shapes, among other things.I think your value might be a little high, I sold mine here for about $400. If you in CA you might get a little more for it on Calguns.com  If you want top dollar and know all the little details to make an auction work, Gunbroker or just a sale listing at GunsAmerica.com

Good luck with the sale.
Matt

Thanks Matt.  It is a stainless barrel on a blued frame.  I'm not sure what you mean about the trigger guard - looks "normal" to me.

I wonder if I'd be better off removing the barrel and trying to sell it separately?

Sorry to keep this going, but I really do appreciate the help and input.  It's a gun I bought "used" some years ago, have enjoyed shooting it occasionally and now find that I just don't shoot at all - at 70 years old my arm strength just isn't what it once was Embarrassed

There is nothing wrong with selling as a complete gun. I've seen many and I personally think the stainless AMT barrel on a blued frame has a nice contrast. I'd go as far as to say it's worth more in it's current configuration than it would be if it was just a Ruger Mark II pistol. In other words, I view the longer stainless steel AMT barrel as an upgrade. LOL
