I just looked and I have a set of 357 AMP case forming dies, RCBS#55000. I will probably never use them and they are used but in good condition.
I know nothing about International shipping.

Jason, thanks for the well written and detailed article about the dies. I have read it a while ago hence my hunt for the dies. So much easier to look for the dies once you understand different options.
At this stage I am using Lee turret press for reloading but I have RCBS Piggyback as well. I've just finished loading about 20 rounds with Hornady 140gr FTX designed for lever actions. We will see how that works. I will shoot them tomorrow. I believe it will be good hunting load. Going hunting at the end of the month so making all the preparations now. I hunt mostly kangaroos, rabbits and occasional fox or pig for which 357AMP I believe will be ideal. I will post the report on it here. Tom

Wow, another place where you can actually use the Auto Mag for what it was designed and built for, handgun hunting. I'm so envious. I'm going to have to take a vacation to either Texas (or another handgun hunting friendly state) or Australia and pack my .44 AMP with me one of these years. God knows we obviously can't be trusted to do such a thing in Canada. Grrrrrrrr. But good on you Tom. I hope your new handloads work out well. And nail a 'roo for me. I will live vicariously through your account of a successful hunt hopefully. ![]() Cheers. |

Tom,
Let us know how the Hornady 140gr FTX turns out. What primer and powder are you using Down Under? Bob's a good guy to deal with. Bob- easiest thing to do is ship them in a Priority Mail Flat Rate Box. I can't remember how much it was, but it's less than the weight limit (a die set) for international (which is different than the states), but I want to say about $20 international last time I shipped a set. And of course, you have to fill out a custom form and list those metal working dies and reamers and list the value. I have an online USPS account and it walked me through everything, but you have to physically go into the post office and drop off the package since it has a custom form with it. Jason |

Also, when shipping ANYTHING FIREARM RELATED out of the US please check to make sure it is allowed. If you are not sure call your local office of Homeland Security.
I am talking from experience, many things have changed since 9/11 in regards to what can and cannot be shipped internationally. Customs and Homeland Security do not play around when it comes to restricted items being mailed internationally.

I speak from experience, receiving plenty of things like firearms TOOLS from US sellers to myself in Canada, before and after 9/11. There is no restriction whatsoever on shipping reloading dies out of the USA. They also recently raised the export value limit to $500.00 on anything like firearms parts themselves, provided they are sold and shipped by a seller with the correct export license, like Brownells, Northridge, etc. I have got M1 Garand stocks, M14 and Garand rifle parts, M1 en-bloc clips. tools and RCBS dies shipped to me no problem at all in the past few years, and it was all above board, nothing under the radar. You can't sneak anything by them these days, they have x-ray scanners, etc, and nothing of mine has ever been withheld. No worries at all Tom, you're good to go with something as simple as reloading dies. ANY kind of TOOLS (firearms related or not) don't even qualify for a second look from the guys in US customs. Furnishings like holsters or mag pouches also are not controlled and no worry either. The main things the US State Dept is anal over is "significant gun parts", by which they mean core parts of a firearm, like either barrels, frames bolts, etc. Those kind of parts or a complete firearm ARE exportable, but you need to file an application for an export certificate from the US State Dept. In order to do that, you first have to apply to your home government for an international import certificate (called an IIC in Canada), maybe the same in Aussieland. You get your IIC approved (usually no trouble), and send it with your export certificate application to the US State Dept, and the process starts. You have to arrange to have an FFL export approved dealer process this application for you to the USA authorities, you don't do it directly. Once approved, the FFL dealer ships you the goods. When it arrives at your customs, you have to have all your documents and licenses ready with you when you pick it up, just in case some unknowing custom agent tries to give you a hard time, and then you can baffle him with all your prepared and approved paperwork. But this is only for significant gun parts. NONE of that applies to you getting reloading dies from Beemer1. Cheers. |

I never said you could not send the die set all I said was to be sure and check first. All it takes is a phone call to be sure. I never rely on what anyone posts on a forum, I always check before I do something that could land me a big fine and possible jail time. When going through Customs on international shipping there is no playing around with these people. All I am saying is be sure before you ship anything that Customs is involved in. I am not trying to discourage anyone from shipping the die set just wanting to make sure no one gets more than they bargained for dealing with Customs and Homeland Security. I contact a friend of mine with Homeland Security now before I ship anything out of the US.

Hi Jason, I am using AR2205 from ADI (local manufacturer). The burn rate is similar to H110 from memory. For primers I am using CCI Large Pistol but intend to switch to magnums as per recommendations from newsletters. I've put trough about 30 rounds so far. I am missing elevation screw on my sights (it's how I bought it) so can't comment on accuracy as yet. Actually I will post wanted ad for this...I did started having problems with trigger being disconnected after the first round although the gun looks like being in battery and ready to fire with the hammer cocked. I did a post on this and Tony suggested it may be headspace issue. I will look into this when I get chance. I knew there would be issues until I get the ammo properly tailored to the gun. I am slowly getting there. Few more trips to the range should sort this out. Otherwise it's a absolute blast to shoot. I think my 9mm's are getting pushed further and further to the back of the safe.
Did I mention I have Automag III in 30 Carbine as well :) |
