I just called and talked to Rob. He confirmed that I have moved from 237 to 191 on the waitlist. They are trying to have all the back orders filled within the next three months, but they are telling people six months to account for any unforeseen hurdles.

They are not shipping parts yet as they want to make sure they have enough parts to fill their orders. Once the back orders are sent out, they will make parts available. He said they will have each part marked as to whether or not they will be compatible with vintage guns or not. He felt that magazines should be compatible, but didn’t make a guarantee. Similarly, he thought vintage barrel assemblies could probably be fit to new guns but suspected it might take a gunsmith to do the fitting. It sounds like they are not anticipating a drop in fit.

Can anyone who has already received one of the new models comment about compatibility of components between new and old models? I apologize if this is somewhere buried in the thread that I missed .

In my experience, the new magazines do not work in the old guns and the old mags don't work in the new guns.  They might work if you did some modifications or a little fitting but I did not even try.

I have not tried to use the new barrel/bolt assemblies on an old frame, but others have and from what I heard, it requires some major fitting.

The majority of the old barrels fit well on the old frames if you want to go to multiple calibers.  The North Hollywood frames seem to require a little more fitting for some reason.

This is just from my experience.  The frames on all AMP's seem to vary a lot and in my opinion, that is what has caused all the troubles with reliability through the years.

Didn't someone say, some time ago, that there appeared to be 5 slight variations in the frames?

Too many slight variations to risk permanently damaging an "original" frame or barrel assy.
If you were happy and you knew it, would you clap your hands?

I have a 180-D with well over 500 rounds through it and a North Hollywood.  I have used the new mags in both pistols without issue. I even have a triple K with Wolff springs that runs flawlessly in both.

Not sure where anyone got the idea the mags were not interchangeable, but I have not had a problem.

I have two Founder's Editions and the old mags would not work at all in either of them.  I tried the new mags in several of my old AMP's and they did not work .  I spent no time trying to figure out any of the problems.

I sold a guy a LEJ Custom 100 44 and an Elmonte 357 and he ordered the new mags so he would have extras and they would not work in either of those pistols.  I sold him some old mags and they worked.

That is what I based my statement on.
