I'd like to see the chrono results. Everyone told me not to shoot lead in the AMP as it causes problems.
Of course, I use to shoot the relatively cheap Remington JSP 158's in my 357 AMP and they were great. They haven't been available for years. With the cost of components (bullets/brass), I see the desire to switch to lead. I'm working on casting some bullets, but not for the AMP. Jason

Jason,
I’ve had good luck with cheap bulk JSP/JHP bullets from Everglades Ammo. $129 for 500 quantity of 240gr JSP, with free shipping: These out-of-stock 240gr JSP have a more Auto Mag friendly profile and are even cheaper: Worth a look. I bought a billion 357 mag 158 JHP for Auto Mag and 357/44 Bain and Davis and they work great at 1700+ FPS. |

pbcaster45,
Thanks for the Chrono Data! Always good to have. That's about the most powder I load in my Automags. The one I shoot the most (well worn) doesn't take that much to cycle, so I load it down a little. I looked that bullet up and it was originally for the 444 Marlin, but it is a nice looking Bullet.

I wouldn't call it 'recently' but I am late to report that I finally got my Founders Edition delivered to me in late February this year, north of the border, in the Great White North. It took ages to get (ordered back in 2017), with several delays due to accessories I had ordered with it as well as needing to use an import/export business to get it here. I am still waiting on a very important extra part that is still not made yet, as well as a couple parts kits that were on my order. But at least I got the FE in hand, just under the wire before the dorks in federal gov't here put a freeze on handgun purchases (morons,... that's a whole other story I do not wish to discuss because of the irritation it causes me - those A-h@*#'s have basically created a valueless piece of scrap metal out of my FE, that I can't even bequeath to anyone here now, according to their new authoritarian-commie-undemocratic and pretzel logic legislation). Anyways, I digress. It's a beauty, but I have had life distractions of late and still have not made a new batch of .44 AMP reloads to try it out. First though I have to sort some mechanical stuff out with it, as almost all the mags I ordered with it are quite tight in the mag well. They do NOT drop free. Has anyone else had this problem with theirs? I have to contact Patrick sometime when I get the chance about this. The bolt release is also not releasing properly. Not sure if I got a lemon or if there is something that is misadjusted right from the factory. cheers.

I brought up the bolt release thing with them and they said they designed it that way because the way they were originally they wore out and caused slam fires, so they put a negative angle on it. They say its designed to load a round by pulling the slide and releasing it. I haven't noticed my magazines being tight, but I don't NEED them to fall out. I'm ok with pulling them out as long as they are not too tight.
PS: Tell us how you really feel about your Government!! LOL!!! I totally agree with you!

![]() It has it has been awhile since I have posted. The last time I posted my Automag classic edition was being returned to the manufacturer to have a problem corrected. Without going into detail, there was a manufacturing and assembly problem with the accelerator block hole in the upper receiver. Automag replaced the barreled upper. Since it has come back to me, I have run 140 rounds through it and for the most part it has run perfectly and is very accurate . The only issue I have at this point is making sure the recoil rods are tight and I have had 2 premature lock backs. As for the recoil rods, I’m not sure how many inch pounds they can take, but they loosen up within a few magazines of firing. I love the gun and I’m practicing with it weekly weekly in preparation for the opening of Bear and Cougar season here in Washington state. And yes, in case you are wondering, I was also practicing bullseye slow fire with the S&W 41 at 50 yards. |

I find it noteworthy that this is the first time in many years that the forum sent me an email notifying me of activity on this thread. That function broke down years ago but now seems to be working again?
