So for whatever reason, I mind the new barrels a lot less when in Black.
Wonder if they have considered Black Chrome,,,,

Just my opinion but how could you get any uglier than that.

Ya the flat color is tough to look at, BUT, it somehow does cause me to wonder what it would look like in a very well done black chrome.
I wont know until I see it,,,
Anyone got a blown up donor barrel they care to test this idea on? If you have such a barrel, send it to me and I'll have it black chromed as a test.

A good coating would be the DLC (Diamond like Carbon) that SIG uses
Here is a SIG 210 Super Target Midnight from the German Mastershop. An Auto Mag would look great with this coating.

You have good taste Bill.
That TDE Centennial or the Lomont 8 1/2" 357 are my favorites.
That was Kent Lomont's personal gun and he tuned it, smooth as glass.

At this point your best bet is the new top ends they are planning to offer.
Your only other option is to buy a barrel and have one made, and that is not likely to cost you any less.
Its a bit of work to convert any other barrel, but if you desire an original barrel, that my be the path you are looking for.

And if your cant afford either a new top end or to buy a barrel and have it converted, you might be able to hunt down and get your hands on this custom Auto Mag:
