Not sure if you intended to do so, but you have also changed the option to "Edit Post"

Some Admins do this to make sure posts are not altered, other allow it so that members can correct typos and such and add to posts so that they dont have add another post and clog the board with another entry everytime someone wants to add to the thread.

As a poor speller and typist I very much like the option to edit my posts.

Its nothing that will cause heartburn either way, but if it was an unintentional change, it would be sure nice to have it turned back on.

Thanks Much for the site, and as is the practice on other sites, if you open a paypal account or other means to accept funds, I'm sure many here would gladly contribute to offset the costs of operation.

Geo, I experienced the loss of "edit" also, but the explanation was that it was in one of the two locked threads. Try editing in a thread that hasn't been locked and see what happens.

Btw, I very much like the ability to edit and would like to see us continue to have that.

As far as locking threads, there're also two other options. Delete posts only and otherwise leave a thread operational. Or delete the whole thread.

This is all a real shame what has happened lately. On another forum the subject of the AM came up and I wanted to give a link for them to look over here. But, obviously the timing is the not the best.

..well, I just tried that idea for editing...negative function..

No issues with not being able to edit locked threads, thats the way it should be.

But the issue I am experiencing is the option to edit is not available on any thread, including this one.  I suspect its a board setting that may be a bit challenging to set correctly.

Then again it could be intentional.

We will have to see what Ian says.

Its not a deal breaker either way, just a very nice feature that I have enjoyed.

Thanks for the input, and glad to see it was not unique to me,,,  ;-)

I'm not one to worry about the edit feature cause if you want to add more info. just post again. As far as typos, maybe it's a good thing. You will now more likely re-read your post more carefully before slamming it in, this may also give you a second chance to re-think what you are saying before posting. I do that sometimes(not always) and find it's not worth saying some things and just post an answer without the comment of other stupid things.
Another reason is to give a clear picture of the ENTIRE thread as the events of what truely happened. To go back and remove a post may shift the outlook of the thread, not fair to anybody involved.
I don't like locked thread for the main reason if people are bitching and name throwing in that thread, it will confine it there and not spread it everywhere else. If you don't want the gossip thread, then don't look in it. Most other threads than will stay clean, hopefully.
Sell what you what and brag what you want. There is plenty of monies to go around. If a product is bad, comment about the problem if it is YOURS and you are looking for a solution. Don't need to blast other sellers. It would be nice if it's true about the cut and site issue to post pics of before and after the fix. To just say all are bad can't be true as I have not heard a mass complaint yet from everybody or from anybody YET!
Does anybody have this issue or is it a false problem? Speak up please and put this to rest. Everybody makes mistakes and is entitled to fix said mistakes.
Hope I didnt' typo anything but sh*t happens!
Be safe and have fun!!

I just wanted to say,I too agree with XP001. Mistakes do happen, sometimes by accident and sometimes by bad decision making. But we all deserve another  chance to recover and go on. Hope everybody feels the same.

Posts are unlocked, I locked them rather than delete them as there was some good information in them but I take the point about the argument spreading into other discussion.

I will look in to the edit option.

The ability to edit posts should be active again, any issues please let me know.

Auto Mag, feel free to join the dyslexia club, I am a founder member and my spelling is all over the place. I find that the Google Chrome browser is good as it has an inbuilt spelling checker, and I am happy you say that IE10 does also, it catches most of my snafus.

OUTSTANDING!

Thanks for restoring that feature as I am in fact dyslexic, certain letter combinations (el - le for example) wreak havoc. And thats in addition to being a bad speller,,,  And we wont even get into writing skills,,,,

Thanks for the advice on browser options!  I'll take a look.

Ha just used it, forgot I have fat fingers as well and often end up with caps for the first 2 letters particular word,,,  THX ;-)

Geo, one casualty of knowing some German is it messes up your English. "ei" and "ie" are a complete disaster.

But it's worse if you have an out of date browser. I can't easily load a spell check. I've even tried typing something in word processing first, checking it there, then copying and pasting here. But the system blows it out, so that won't work. I just take my chances with proof reading. There's a simple trick to it. You read each word individually out loud as you look at it. That helps (somewhat).

It does not matter much if the spelling is wrong, as long as all the caracters from the word are present.
Where you write them is not important.
Try this:

did yuo nkow tath yuo cna raed tish evne it is spleled worng?
srory for teh bad spleling...ConfusedLOL

While we're talking forum settings, how about bringing back "delete" post? Every forum I know of has that.

There are times I've thought it a nice feature. Like when I look at a post and think, you know, that really didn't add anything.

Or after posting something, especially a long complicated post, you realize you've made such a mess of it, it's best to start over from scratch. Or where you get interrupted while trying to edit, and have to be away, but want to come back later and fix it.

I still believe post should not be deleted or edited as it shows exact process of contents and the thread. You can always add another post to "fix" the bad one.
Like luc says most wrods can be read even with mis-spelling, I got an email about this saying as long as the first and last letters are proper teh brain will fix the rset of the isseus.
If you really think you need to make a long post or complicated one, I use a word program to make the post, then cut and paste it on here AFTER I proof read it and spell check it.
Remember everybody makes typos and it's not the end of the world.

In my opinion it would be good for us to have the maximum flexibility with our posts.

And let's include an "ignore" feature too like other forums have.
