There are quite a few Dan Wesson 445, 375 and 357 Super Mags floating around, but rarely will you see a 414, which is an elongated 41 Magnum.

This particular example was a special order gun with a 6" full under lug barrel.  Most of the Super Mags, in all calibers, were fitted with 8" non-under lug barrels and slotted barrel shrouds.  That allowed for the longest sight radius and still "make weight" for IHMSA silhouette competition.

Run it up, until you blow it up, then back it down a bit.

Very cool SS pistol. Does the cylinder lock move up or down to open? Had not heard of the 414 before.

I saw the literature for this back in the day, but never saw one anywhere. Not at any gun show. Always wondered how many got made. I thought it was a cartridge that should have been more popular. Good to see you played around with it. Any further anecdotes about it to add?
