That does not appear to be a factory barrel.  In fact, I could be wrong but I do not think there were any 10 1/2" Pasadena barrels made.

Looks like someone was trying to copy the silhouette barrel profile from the "B" series.

Here is a silhouette barrel along side a 6 1/2" VR barrel.

I picked that up about 1977 or 79 ? anyway from the North Hollywood shop.
It was a very small sales shop for Auto Mag

Very interesting but before my time.

Bruce was hanging around there then, perhaps he can shed some light on the Pasadena stencil.

That would be cool.
As you can tell my wife has young hands in these images...Embarrassed
I remember the N.H. shop was off of ether Vineland or Cahuenga.
I still live in the area but closer to Studio City now.

I first went to B&B Sales in North Hollywood in Feb of 1972.  The Kahn brothers started running their operation out of an apartment in Sherman Oaks before moving into their first North Hollywood location.  They later moved to their final location on Oxnard St in NH.

B&B had a small warehouse on Vanowen St in NH but it was just used for storing Auto Mag accessories and shipping.  No public access was allowed.  It was just a space in an industrial shop complex.

There was a small gun shop on Vineland near Saticoy in NH that had a few AM's and the owner loaded his own ammo.  The guy hated Auto Mags.  The ammo was loaded to Kent Lomont specifications and broke my grips on the first shot.  I loaded my own after that.

I don't see a Pasadena accelerator or block on the barrel in question.  The rear sight platform and blade could also be later made but I can't see them.

I agree with Beemer that this appears to be a "custom" barrel on a NH frame.  The black spotted frame is the indication of this.  The front "Silhouette" sight shows it was made much later than Pasadena days.  The receiver could have started life as a Pasadena or it was later marked that way by the "guys in the back room."

This is not the first one of these I have seen.  In the 80's there was an auction house in Van Nuys that advertised an Auto Mag to be offered.  I went to the auction.  The gun was a legitimate Pasadena with the 6.5" barrel that was offered as an "extra" to go with the gun.  The Pasadena frame was fitted with an 8.5 or 10.5" 44 barrel marked Pasadena.  I remember the seller said that it was a legitimate barrel.  He said you could tell by the markings.  He said that the "M&M" on the receiver was for M&M manufacturing.  The seller said that they made the barrel for Harry Sanford.  He pointed to the AM logo on the receiver.  Put a guy behind a counter = he becomes an expert and everything you know is wrong.

I would put the 8.5" barrel on the gun and regard the 10.5" "Pasadena" barrel as a "custom" barrel.  No worries.  Just don't spin some story about how this was a factory barrel made for Harry and was used on several African safaris.

I hope there is some paperwork on the gun.  If not, document what you were told about the gun when you bought it.

Thanks Bruce.

Have you ever seen an AMP with a crown cut like that before?  It looks like what the New Company is doing.

Bob Barbasiewicz did this on his custom barrels.  He moved the front sight back far enough to provide a
proper crown.  That may be why he pinned on his sights on.  The factory just pressed the front sight on flush with the muzzle.  This way they could drill a horizontal hole, between the sight blade and the barrel, to fill with weld to secure the blade to the barrel.  Patrick is going to provide a proper crown. I had bought this barrel separate from the original unit that came with a 6.5 Pasadena
barrel.
I remember when I walked in the N.H. shop there was a glass display case on the left
hand side & the 10.5" Pasadena barrel was there & I bought it.
I don't remember how much & I don't have any paper work .....bummer Cry
