to my new automag (new to me that is :-) 180grn 1664fps 200grn 1600fps 240grn 1445fps my automag is a high standard A prefix .. I know not an H but I'm happy .. I have A automag ... the only thing I'm a little worried about is a slight mushrooming on the bolt. and I need grips, these are cracked ... badly !!!! reloading is for the future till then I'm thinking of buying a box or two ... as well as a few triple K mags .. yes mine will be a shooter and a meat provider ... thanks for any information ... You can get grips from vintage gun grips. Even Midway carries them (or used to). They are copies of TDE era grips, but in Polyurethane, not black plastic. (Early TDE Grips-ie, North Holly and some early El Monte were Polyurethane as well). They are best bargain, like $30-35. I'd tone down the loads a little, where did they come from? Each Automag is different, I'd start lower and work up. I'm also assuming a 6.5" barrel?
Get new springs from Wolff before starting your load development.

H_Talon,
I know that different pistols function best at different velocities & pressures. My Pasadena isn't happy until it reaches 1750fps with 180g Sierras, 1650fps with 200g XTP's, 1450fps with the 240g Nosler hp and 1300+fps with the 300g XTP's. Now I beleive that those are close to, but not at the upper limits. I've fired off 400+ of these loads and others without any visable signs of abuse. Make sure you check that your recoil rods are still tight after every clip or two. have fun, Paul V. |

yes my "holy grail" aka Grail is a 6.5 44, the loads are from stars and stripes ammunition http://www.starsandstripesammo.com/index2.html I'm just looking for something I can shoot a few till I get to reloading :-) but I don't want to blow up my Grail ... I always wanted one of these since I first started seeing the ads in the back of the gun magazines back in 1969, got to shoot one in 1974 but never had the chance to get one till now ... my Honey bought it for me .. how cool is that !!! anyway I'll look into new springs from wolf, and triple K mags. I saw a guy @ the las Vegas gun show last weekend who makes a bandoleer holster, I'm thinking two mags on the front and three altoid box sizes pouches on the back for my survival kits, and a knife on the holster its self .... but we'll see ... first I need to shoot my Grail. :-) thanks for any information !!!!!!
