Gun looks GREAT!  Mind you, these are built on classic, NOS frames...so the frames are exactly what you should expect from a 1970s frame.  If you are into AutoMags there will be no surprise.

I am tearing into everything as we speak...and I am gonna shoot it tomorrow night.

I'll fill you all in on those details then.

For now:

It is beautiful.

NOTE: remember that the wood cases have been held back a month so they are shipping in simple AutoMag cardboard boxes at the moment and are wrapped in foam.  The boxes are to ship later, IIRC.

Mine was shiny and clean as you please when I unboxed it.

Would you take some pics or video for us so that we can live vicariously through you? :)

...and she's gonna be just as bitchy as she is pretty.

Tony will be glad to know that even though the magazine can "hold" seven rounds.....good luck getting 'em in there.  I can't believe I haven't had to go for stitches yet.

Tearing the mags down is just as much of a bitch as ever.....but those of you who know the gun, know the tricks to doing it.

It's fun as hell learning the ropes again!!!!

I learned that I need to tighten up the crimp on some of the test loads.  My test loads with cannelures have held through multiple feeds.  ( I have several dummies of each ) Those without would last sometimes less than two feeds before getting shoved into the case but only on one magazine.

I lightly tweaked the feed lips on that magazine and "presto".  Good to go.

Feeding is just as smooth as my old gun....BUT THIS GUN IS INCREDIBLY TIGHTLY TOLERANCED.  The uppers are surgically precisely made.  Gonna need some break in!!!!!

So:  gun.....very good to damn excellent.

Mags....meet the new boss.  Same as the old boss.  That being said, the FINISH on the mags is MUCH BETTER than the originals......but they still have the same old hangups.

Meh, we'll figure something out!!!!

Yes.

Just got the gun apart and back together.  Amazing finish work.  The frame, the grips, the UPPER...all gorgeous!!!

The thread call out on the recoil rods and cocking piece are PERFECT!!!  They nearly bind at the last few turns and it gives you a LOT of confidence that the recoil rods will stay put.

A word of warning:  the tolerancing on these guns is an order of magnitude higher than most originals as far as I can tell.  These guns are gonna be like Les Baer 1911s.  Buy, clean, oil correctly and then shoot the snot out of it to loosen it up.  Load your mags short ( no problem as they are just as awful to load as the originals ) and shoot two or three at a time until the gun loosens up a bit.  THEN start increasing your round count in the mags.  I am HOPING that onces the mags are run a lot that they will go from 5 to 6 and then eventually seven rounds.  Only time will tell

Overall, I am stunned at the level of workmanship on the guns....the guns are INCREDIBLE.

Any paperwork with the gun, or is that coming with the box? Funny, untill now I never thought about a warranty. Not worried thou, I'm sure Patrick would take care of any problems.

Everything sounds good so far.

Does anyone know if they are test firing the pistols before they are shipped?
