Hello Gents,
I am now the proud owner of a new (to me) AutoMag. Its like a kid about to have sex for the first time and doesnt know what to do. Can anyone tell me anything about the weapon? It is one of the commemorative models. Can anyone tell me a good place to start as far as field stripping, cleaning ect. There doesnt seem to be much or any at all literature out there for reference. I thought this would be a good place to ask.

Airborne all the way,
Alex

Alex,

First of all, it is not as good as sex, but it is a lot of fun.  Second, if your pistol did not come with a manual, I would look for one on the internet.  There are some on Gunbroker and you might be able to but one fairly cheap if condition is not a concern.  Another option is to find a copy somewhere, maybe even one you can download and print.

Go to Ian's site and he has some articles online.
If you go to Yoshi's site you can order B. Maynard's Automag book that has more info on maintenance.
Of course we are always here.
Welcome aboard, it is a crazy ride in the world of Automag mania.

So being new to the Automag world, would you say that it is almost like a holy grail of automags?

I don't know about Holy Grail but it definately is a safe queen.  It's more of an investiment that will hopefully gain in time.  Once you start to shoot it, you will lose the appeal of it and it's value will decrease.  By how much? Only time will tell. Me I prefer to have a shooter, therefore experiencing what it is all about.  But that's just my 2 cents worth.

Alex, what you have is an AutoMag, with some polishing and different lettering, designating a special issue. All else just an AutoMag...Wink

Mr Jurras,
Thanks for the info. By the way, where exactly is Hagerman, NM. I used to live in Albuquerque alot years before I went into the Army.
