It is on the internet so it must be true.
That applies for books too.

There are many 'bad' examples of more recent / modern gun books found in Cole's and Chapter's book stores. The quality and expertise of the authors knowledge and ability to properly research often suffers - there are just not enough Ian Hogg quality books anymore.

I know that I myself would probably be found guilty of similar offense if I were to author a book on firearms. For example: I have very little interest in muzzle loaders or cowboy action type firearms and therefore my description and research on those would more than likely lack luster compared to my interests in modern firearms. People who are into the muzzle loaders and cowboy action guns, if they bought my book, would probably be disappointed.

Compound that with the fact that some of these data based descriptions can have there origin sometimes found in generic 'left wing' - 'anti-gun' publications, some of which are to purposefully mislead or demonize certain types of firearms. Others will completely leave out some manufacturers all together; it is not that surprising that you will never find 'all' firearms listed in one publication. Jane's Defense comes to mind - their outlook on small arms is that of UN policy where civilian ownership is looked down upon and sloppy research is accepted for the most part when it comes to their documentation of these small arms.

Here in Canada, most of the libraries have been purged of most firearms related publications probably due to political correctness or maybe even mandated by government as being a potential public safety issue. Cry

I have been recently purchasing high quality, well researched books from a series called "Collecter's Grade" ......if you want to fill your own private library with this anti government / dissident materials as well they can be found here: (sorry, no Automag section ...yet)

Surprisingly, magazine write ups are well worth hanging onto as well - ask other Automag collectors just how many of them have or would love to have copies of the old 70's Guns & Ammo magazines with Automag articles!

Hang onto those old books fellas, the ones with good info are getting harder to come by!
