Thanks for the add, I waited about a week for an activation, I was just about to call a member on the phone, he had his number posted. But right at the very moment I was about to call, I reloaded the site and saw my account was activated, thanks and hello.

So I've a 22 Automag II I got NIB for $650 a few months ago. It of course doesn't cycle with the ammo I had (Hornady 30g and Federal 50g). But I got 250 rounds of Winchester X 40g high power the other day from SG Ammo in OK, I'm about to head out to our local gun club and try it out.

About some problems and remedies, the hammer spur tail bent on me (which I know now to tape down when the slide is off), so I heated it with a torch and bent it back, but the tail broke after a few (non-cycling) rounds. But I reinserted it and the trigger works fine, the little nub on the tail is just enough to keep it in the spring. In fact, it probably works better than having that long tail, which just seemed to be grinding away in the hammer spring.

Also, I'd some light hammer strikes, because the hammer wasn't traveling all the way forward to the striker, so I cannibalized a small screw from some old electronics, dremeled off most of the shank, then stuck it in the bottom of the hammer spring, allowing the hammer to now go all the way forward to the striker. So it fires fine but doesn't cycle at this point.

Then I made four more untested mods. One, I shot some lithium grease into the spring. Two, I dremeled with a triangular shaped stone regrading the ejector pin issue. Three, being that AMTs are made with a stainless steel that galls, I read an interview with one of their engineers, he advised Sanford about the problem, who just laughed and said to grease them up. So I greased the rails with some stay-lube. Four, there's also a lot of friction between the slide, forward at the bottom, and where it nests into the frame, which has scratched the slide area in question. So I put some electrical tape in that nested area, which does seem to alleviate friction when racked and should stop the scratching.

It makes a nice boom and a huge muzzles flash, I hope this thing cycles with this new ammo. I'll post all of this and some more on the main board area later.

Hi all new here. I've been a gun collector for 30 years. I like anything different and weird. I've been look for a automag iii for  many years. Most of them were way overpriced
(i know they arent cheap) or way too far away. I wont buy one online afraid of not being able to inspect, although i have bought plenty of new guns online. Well i finally bought one yesterday from a guy on armslist. Met the nice seller an hour away and made the deal. Its very nice and its obviously shot very little.

I'm new here as well.  Just purchased an original Pasadena Automag but still waiting for it to be released from 7-day jail here in the People's Republic of Marylandstan.

About me...retired federal law enforcement officer with a number of different jobs prior to that life.  As said already I live in the People's Republic of Marylandstan...but once my wife retires next Spring we're heading to Arizona where we already own a home that will be remodeled and leave Maryland in the rear view mirror.

I'm a long time gun "accumulator" with a primary interest in Colt firearms.  I own many but also have an assortment of Smith & Wessons with a smattering of other makes.  Besides the Automag I also have an AMT Hardballer Longslide in 7-day jail as well.  I always wanted a Longslide but I doubt if Colt will ever make one and found this AMT in .45 ACP.  I'd like to find a Javelina Longslide 10mm as well one day.

I'm looking forward to being a part here and chatting with others.

Welcome Whiplash & Burp
Enjoy the board and read and when you think you read enough read some more, theirs a lot of information here,  don't be afraid to ask questions and keep your eyes open for spare parts, an Automag is worthless if you break a part and cant replace it.
