Thanks for the replies, the responses given make sense. Better to replace a basically sacrificial parts than the entire cast part.

As part of my main hobby I do foundry work in aluminum, bronze and small grey iron castings; for me if a part goes south I can make a new one.

I would not want to recast some of my more complex parts in case something went wrong with a threaded section so I can see the utility of a helical thread insert.

I did a Google search on the part number I used, and it came back as being 10/32.

The number is

3591 3CN380

Search on that and you should find what you need.  I got mine on eBay, genuine Stanley.

They do make locking heli-coils. They are red. Probably the best bet to get, to keep the rods from working loose. I always try to get some whenever I purchase a kit.

Any link?

What about the tools to do it?
I see some modify usual tools for removing the old coils.
For the install, you only need a tap wrench, or something else?

Here is a link for 10-32 locking Heli-coils.  https://www.mscdirect.com/product/details/00062968

Here are some kits on Amazon.  https://www.amazon.com/Helicoil-5528-3-10-32-Thread-Repair/dp/B000RFOOO6/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=10-32+helicoil+kit&qid=1670468591&sr=8-4

Is there a standard length for 10-32 helicoils?
Some seems shorters than others.
I'd rather have the biggest one. More strenght.

The kit on amazon provide an install tool, not a removal tool.

I can't see if the coils in my cocking piece are tangless or with broken tangs.
The removal tool is different regarding the coil:

Heli-coil lengths are rated by diameters. 1.5 diameters is usually the standard. Example for a 1/4" bolt, the 1.5 diameter would equal the insert being 3/8" long., a 2 diameters, would be 1/2" long, etc.
