Here's an interesting link I thought y'all might enjoy - it's a discussion about what gun Sondra was using, but you can see the Colt folks appreciate who or what the real star of that movie was. Now, as far as what Colt was involved - I have no idea.

Ginsaw,
Nice Link. But we don't want too many people appreciating the Automag, it's already hard enough to afford!!!!!!!
Personally, I don't see what Clint saw in Sondra anyway. There must have been more than meets the eye!
Now for that sorry pic of an Automag, I mean, at least link to the real 8.5 VR used in the movie, but I'm not giving them a hint.
Funny you mention it, Beverly Hills Cop II was on last night, and as you probably know, there was a 44 AMP in it, but there's only like 3-4 frames of the gun.
I have two young employees have never seen a Dirty Harry movie. I'm thinking of buying it just so they can watch it-I imagine it will go unappreciated.

How UnAmerican is that! I remember seeing the first movie and people were clamping at the end. As for Sondra Locke, Who!, she road the coattails long enough and got kicked off the Clint Express.

Gerry,
How UnAmerican? I hope you aren't referring to me? I hope you are referring to those who don't know Dirty Harry! Everyone at work was surprised (even people I thought wouldn't be Dirty Harry Fan's), these kids are just out of college, one last year, the other two years ago. I don't have a clue what these kids watch. I mean when I was in college, we watched reruns of classics like Perry Mason (comes to mind because I liked it then) and thought nothing of it. Today, I guess too much other stuff to do. I even remember watchin TCM with girlfirends at the time, probably unheard of today.
I mean Sondra Locke just doesn't do it for me. That's the great part of the American Way we can choose. However, I don't know the story with her and Clint. Wasn't really my era.
Now, if you go to the movie Malone, Cynthia Gibb is more for me! She's a poster girl from my era!

This posting links is kinda fun - here's another someone in that Colt Sudden Impact thread tossed in about the AM -
I know I've read that one someplace before. It has an obvious error in it. Can anyone spot it? It also was done either before starline brass became available, or whoever wrote it just didn't know.
On Sondra, I go back aways and can remember seeing CE's spaghetti westerns at the drive-ins when they came out. Clint made a lot of movies long before she came along. She was in the Any Which Way film co-starring with Clint and Clyde. Remember "Right turn, Clyde!". She was also in Bronco Billy (pretty good movie). Those came later. I don't know of any others with her.
I see in our future sometime an Auto Mag lovers' favorite movie thread...

Ginsaw, They left out "AMC" from the early eighties. Also, not sure the Wildey locks up like they say. Yeah, the bolt does rotate, the locking lug I don't remember being in the front (I sold mine, can't remember). Super Vel Made ammo too. The write up in the end seems like it's from Cartridges of the World, maybe not the most current edition (because it might mention Cor-Bon or Starline). I think that article is pasted together from various sources. JW |

No not talking aboutyou Jason. These kids today would not watch "Dirty Harry" , "The Wild Bunch" or any other of my favorite monies. If it does not have $10 million in special effects then they don't see it. Their idea of fun is texting, My Space and the internet.
How did they use to make movies without a computer?

What do the youngsters watch today? They watch music and other videos a lot here - www.youtube.com. Aside from home videos you can find pretty much any piece of music worldwide that's ever been done, well almost anyway.
Speaking of which - you've got to check this out - http://youtube.com/watch?v=Phbof2wL6Rs. Look at the related videos referenced and you'll see lots more on the Auto Mag.
Is that possibly one of us? I'm not sure.
Also look at the most recent post on that Colt forum thread. An AM owner has shown up and posted a pic of his gun. The Colt forum now has two AM photos. Betcha they get more.
That error I had in mind was where the guy referred to it as a gas op.

Ginsaw,
this came up a while back:
That's Mickey Fowler(I think) having a hard time pulling back the bolt. Obviously, he didn't verse himself well before doing to the video.
