Like Ed I'm a member of other boards that have similar sections dedicated to sharing negative experiences with buyer/seller transactions.
I like George's response as we need to be adult about it and in the end if getting sued happens then that's an adult thing. I've never heard of someone getting sued personally from a forum post about an transaction experience gone bad. Sites like Ebay and now even Facebook Marketplace are asking for feedback. I think that's really what Ed is saying. Either a good feedback experience or a negative (buyer beware) feedback. I for one don't want to spend a bunch of time searching though the site trying to figure out if a guy is legit or not, just have a thread dedicated to such and be done with it. It's hard enough finding information I'm looking for. If nothing is posted on that thread about an individual members can ask the community if they've had dealings and go from there. I guess you didn’t understand that I was joking about “cheap”
cars, I understand when things become hobby/collectable prices go along with it.
Everything matters, box condition, item itself, rarity, even a nick on the
corner. I do understand it’s cool to find one and then figure out you were
scammed, it’s the price for doing more on-line than face-to-face but on line
puts more into your hands than before. So we always have to balance it with
checking the seller/buyer out. Sorry about my dry humor about the cars, type
just doesn’t do it right I guess. I know a lot of collectors of many things and
one thing they have for it is PASSION! Prices are always dictated by supply and
demand of the collectors and not the value of who doesn’t care about it.
As far as your thinking of this idea of posting “deals gone
bad and who/what and why”, do it and see if it grows. The post above this mentions
a “feedback” style thing and says it’s a good idea. Now what are you really
wanting to do here? I can see how a “feedback” system would work as I have seen
them and been rated on them BUT that is a lot different than what was first mentioned
here as the post topic. If you think having a thread of “bad deals” is the way to
go, make one now and post yours as first and watch for comments or not, the
admin said he wouldn’t care and go ahead and float the idea. I’m sure if it
goes bad it will get pulled, hopefully without hard feelings. I won’t care
personally because I won’t ever be on it. If it’s a feedback style system that
would be more involved as a little more work on admin side would need to be
done to make happen. I don’t visit the “ads” section here and don’t know or
realize how many items are being brought/sold/traded, maybe there is a problem. Good luck on this idea whichever way it goes, I’m sure most
people here don’t mind it as most are good people and if it helps those that
need it all the better. Gotta go, popcorn is ready. |

I checked my notes and found I had bought some 1911 parts from him in 2010 and some Auto Mag parts in 2011. They were all as-represented and arrived promptly. |

I'm glad everything worked out for you, I admit I got all my parts but dealing with Matt was trying to say it kindly, the biggest disappointment was his statement that I had switched the grips, that still rubs me wrong but his shipping was wrong taking so long, he even sent me a spare firing pin to make up for the slow shipping and that was a thoughtful gesture but that's still no excuse for him claiming I switched grips especially after I said look at the pic you sentand you took them on your carpet. Instead of just dropping his error he stopped returning texts ever since, basically he got caught red handed, very sad. He was trying to sell me a hand gun he had but his price was well over what others had sold for, I just told him I was not interested. I only brought this out to show even people with lots of years in this hobby can go awry and that's why I would never deal with him again.
