Thanks for everyone's help here on the forum. I've disassembled my Automag, cleaned and lubed it with FP-10. Now I am wondering how to disassemble the magazines for cleaning? Anyone have a tutorial?

Here is a link to Ian's copy of Jurras's newsletter detailing how to tune an AMP magazine. |

You're welcome. Use care replacing the follower pin and use blue loctite on it. Good luck.

Is there an easy way to compress the spring down far enough to slip the pin in?

Forgive my ignorance, but why would you feel the need to disassemble the magazine to clean it? If you have a magazine loading tool it’s easy to compress the spring fully and then wipe the inside of the magazine, but even if you don’t, you can still shoot solvents and oils in there as necessary.
I would only consider dismantling the magazine if I needed to replace a damaged or worn-out component such as a weak spring. Am I crazy? |

use a pin punch and stick it in the slot and push down on the spring to drag it down into the mag. Might have to push it down with your hand first. Once it's down far enough, you can hold the spring down and then slide the follower in. Then put the pin in the correct depth!!! Or your bolt holdopen won't work. Best to measure it before you start! Becareful not to mess up the slot.
