Here is a prototype case for the "Founders Edition" Auto Mags. The FE barrel is 9.3" long. The barrel in the picture is 8.5" long. With a North Hollywood (shooter) frame and William's grips.

The case will work with any Auto Mag frame. It is the barrel that matters. Where the front sight is located and if there is a cut-out for it. This 8.5" barrel had to be squeezed into this case to fit. Patrick may be selling these cases now. Cheers

I don't know Ed. Patrick would be the one to ask on that. I don't know if they are going to go from the 9.3" down to an 8.5" barrel length or not. The barrel in the picture I posted was made by Brian Maynard.

I just talked to Patrick and he said they should with a little fine tuning, I don't want to mess with the frame that much but was wondering after having the new barrel fitted will the original one still work......... Patrick did say do not mix bolts with barrels, there matched and not really interchangeable I did ask Patrick about the length difference and he said it was because one person measured it one way and the next person a different way Ed

Yikes!!!
Two guys at the same shop can't agree on how to use a dial caliper and micrometer? That's kind of how I read that statement.

Can anyone tell me if Automag was at the Shot Show this year? After remaining quiet for a very long time, I finally went to Patrick's website and sent a message through it requesting to purchase just the 8 1/2" upper - not the complete gun - just the upper.
It's been about a week & a half or two weeks and guess what?
No response.
Has anyone else run into this issue through the website? Dare I attempt and call directly? I kinda figured they would be able to hook me up with an upper, being that the big hold up is the lowers?
If I can't get confirmation & delivery on an upper within a two month time frame, I'm moving on - done - finito. I'll try and re-barrel an original upper myself, just hope I can get the rib done properly! |
Í would say call and get something along the lines of a written statement or such.
In stock for ordering != In stock for delivery, as others have pointed out.
Best wishes how ever you choose

To answer the question about SHOT Show 2020, Automag didn't have their own booth. Just like last year, Patrick was there with one FE in the display case at the SBR ammo booth. We talked for a bit and Patrick had his laptop there and showed me pix of some of the stuff they're working on.

Curious, but, why would he have just the same pistol from before and not one of the new ones he has labored over?
Or maybe I am not understanding what he had brought to display.
In 2 years, one would thing there would be at least a half dozen orders filled at this point.
