My ammo guy is looking for some information and was hoping someone on this site might be able to help. I believe someone has contacted him to make some ammunition, but he can find no information. He is looking for the case dimensions and whatever load data he can find for the 357/45GWM. Please if you have the info he needs and do not want to post it on the board, please PM me or give me a call. Thanks Larry.... |

If you can't have fun doing it, then don't do it.

Thanks Beemer. I had a 475 Wildey and sold it. It had a nice letter from the factory with various articles attached from the previous owner. One was on the 357 Peterbuilt. I foolishly didn't copy the paperwork on that....... Jason

The 357/45 WinMag is actually made from either .308 cases or 44 Automag cases, necked to .357. However, it uses a thinner neck than the 357 AMP, so you have to inside neck ream the cases. A .357AMP round won't chamber in a 357/45 Win Mag barrel. The AMP has a neck diameter .010" larger than the WinMag.

I ordered a 357 Peterbuilt barrel from the New Wildey Company and had several friends order them also. They had barrel blanks left from the old company in stock. The last I talked to them they did not know if they would run any as the interest right now is not great. They have 44 blanks left also and are planning a run of 44 AMP barrels once they get rolling.

I'm trying to learn by following this thread (and others)so please clear it up for me.
So the 357/45GWM is the 357 peterbuilt? GWM? Grizzly Win Mag? What case is used? the 44 or 308? or are the same case head style and both can be used with trimming/sizing/necking? Not yet that I handload but is this stuff listed in handlaod guides? or is it still such a wildcat that's it's "make a your own risk" thing. I also own a Wildey NIB! One day I'll get around to playing with it, forgot what caliber it is but did read all the info that came with it(forgot most already as it's been years). Keeping me interested! Thanks for the info help
