With regard to a BAM loose barrel/receiver assy on frame,  I have seen this with the Ruger MK I and II. Some folks have used what they refer to as a 'blast shield' (DIY assy that is made from a strip of aluminum can) over the barrel lug. This accomplishes two things. It shims the barrel/receiver and frame so they are tight and it also hangs down internally and protects the trigger mechanism from any carbon, wax, burt powder, etc.

I haven't done this with a BAM because I really don't shoot it that much but I am going to install one on one of my Ruger/Pac-lite pistols.
