Anyone here bought the book on Bert Masons site?

Now that the book is complete we have a special deal for those of you who have been waiting to purchase the whole book at once.  The price for the 8 1/2 X 11 inch whole book, all 3 chapters at once, is only $1700!

Seems like a whole lot of money for a book.  Never even spent a hundred dollars for a book let alone $1700.00

Wonderin how many pages its got, etc.

Sometime you can get the local library to buy a book, but I don't think they would buy a $1700.00 book, and something tells me this is not a regular published book with all those tracking numbers and such.

I don't doubt he sunk a bunch of money into getting all the information used, but I don't think I ever heard of a $1700.00 book before this one, so it hard to believe too many people are buyin it.  -joe

I received the two Chapter 3 volumes of Bert's book last week and just finished going through them.  I have bought them as they were finished.

Are they worth it?  I have not decided yet.  Bert put in 16 years and 10's of thousands of miles getting it together, so I don't think he is getting rich.

I have a sizable amount of money invested in Auto Mag stuff and let's face it, the amount I have in the book will only buy a parts gun.

Is a NIB Pasadena worth $4.5K, is a full set of Custom 100's worth $22K. or is an International worth $40K.  I have not decided that yet either.

I would really like to buy one and understand he has had a lot of costs to make it, but thats more money than I have spent for every book I own.  Sure wish he had a regular paper version, just don't need a fancy finished version. -joe

The book is mostly high quality pictures which would not lend itself to standard paper.

As a side, I do own a couple of the guns pictured in the book that I would not have known about and also a "B" series set that I am sure he would have liked to include in it.  That's kinda cool.

I was able to buy the first one but sadly haven't been able to fund the next two.  The overall quality is simply fantastic.  The picture quality is first rate and the history is wonderful.  The first book has ads from the sales period and sure evoked, in me at least, a melancholy desire to see the AM succeed.

Easily worth it - to me!

For folks of a different income level its not an argument of do I replace the falling down fence in the back or buy the book, they can do both.  So I see its worth it if you got the cash, but is you got to give something up to buy a book its not such an easy choice.

No bad mouthin anyone with more income than me, I made my life choices, just saying its not an option for all of us to to buy what we need and what we want.  Many time we got to give something up for a while to get something else.  Could be worse and not really complaining just saying dont have the cash to do all I might do when I want to, so its helpful to get good reviews.

Thx -Joe

I don't think it is income as much as responsibilities and priorities.

It's kinda like the seeing a $25000 Harley in front of a $2000 10' X 50' trailer house in Arkansas.  If the owner is happy, I'm glad for him.

The book is a good reference in my opinion and I enjoy it.  It is certainly may not worth the cost to many AMP owners, so how can I recommend it.

Yup, understand.

That worth word is a tough one. But some times it butts up against available funds and competing interests or needs.  The somethings gotta give.  My point was there some folks that don't think too much of a couple grand and for others it can be several months of savings.

Wouldnt say its worth it or not as I have not seen it. But I know if I bought one something else I want will have to wait or if i need something like new tires for the truck then the book got to wait.   Where as if there was a less expensive paperback version, I think many more of us would be buying it.  -Joe

The problem with paperback is that it will not be as impressive as the pictures will be degraded. He spent many hours/days/months/years making the book his way with pride. I doubt and can't blame him that he won't degrade it to paperback.
Maybe IF everybody bitches enough he might make a revised cheaper copy with only the info. and no pics. but will that sell to make it worth his time to revise, not sure.

I have never seen his books/chapters but hear the value is in the pics as well as the info.
Also most will always have to make a hard decision on buying this or that, it is the way life is. I'm used to that and accept it as part of life and move on with what I can do.
