uploads/458/002.JPGHello, I have a 22 Pistol with a 16"Stainless Barrel. The Frame States Arcadia Machine and Tool 22 Long Rifle Made is USA Covina,Ca 91722. The Frame is Blued and Looks Like a Ruger Lower and The Receiver is Stainless and Looks Like a Ruger Design with Fixed Sights Front and Rear and Dovetailed for a Scope Mount. Want to Say it May be a Early Lightning,But the Lightning Frame is more Squared off. The Serial Number is Interesting also G003200. I Just Became a Member and Have Not Yet Took any Photos. Any Insight Relative to What it may be would be Appreciated. Thanks,Jim

I think what you have is an AMT accessory Bbl mounted on a Ruger frame.
I don't think that was sold as a complete gun that way from AMT.

Hello, Thanks for the Reply. The Receiver is Marked Arcadia Machine and Tool. No Markings on the Barrel and Where the Barrel is Inserted into the Receiver it Looks Factory. I Think it is a Rifle Barrel.....The Pistol Looks Brand New and I don't see any Assembly Markings Showing any Scratches from Fitting. To the Best of My Knowledge, I don't think a 10/22 Rifle Barrel would be Compatible with a MK II Pistol Receiver without Modifications.... Now there is Always a Possibility a Gunsmith put it Together. If that were to be True, He would have had to Have a AMT Pistol Receiver (Upper) Factory Etched with Company Name and Serial No., The Receiver is Not Like a Lightning Receiver, but More Like a Ruger MK II ( See Photo). He Would then have to have a Blue MK II Lower Frame and Modify a Rifle Barrel to Fit a Otherwise Same as MK II Upper Receiver Marked AMT. Listing the Variables and Possibilities, Still Question it being a Prototype? To the Best of My Knowlwdge there is Very Limited Shared Knowledge about This Manufacturer, Thats why I Joined this Sight. Thoughts and Comments or Suggestions are always Welcomed, Thanks,Jim

hrly94,
I can not say how many, or in what lengths, but I believe that George's assessment is correct, it is an AMT accessory barrel, on a Ruger frame, see add in below link. http://amt.glossover.co.uk/pdf/Guns%20and%20Ammo%20-%20August%201983%20-%20Ruger%20Extension%20Barrels%20ad.pdf So even if a gunsmith put it together, they did it on one of these receivers. Just my two cents, MK P.S. IAN's site has more good info if you want to check it out. http://amt.glossover.co.uk/ |

Hello, I Beleive You are Both Correct and I can't Thank You Both Enough For Your Help in Researching My Amt 22. Now I will Look for a 16" Barrel as a Option for a Ruger. Maybe I will get Lucky and Find it in Some Out of the way Place. Really Appreciate it Gentlemen. Thanks,Jim

The replies are right on. This is indeed an accessory barrel that AMT made prior to making the lightning pistols. They are very nicely made and came in different lengths, tapered and bull.

Beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder. What you have is a production item but in that length, not many were sold. I will attest to the fact that AMT aftermarket barrels are some of the finest products they made. AMT's gundrilling/rifling is the best and always got great reviews. I love the "Arcadia Machine & Tool" logo they used on these barrels. Ask about $500.00 and see what you get for a response. If someone wants it, they will pay the price. Just a thought.

That was probably a descent price Matt.
I advised chopperdoc to try and sell his barrel for $500.00 because there is probably someone out there that would pay the price, since the barrels are no longer being made and can be considered collector items.
