I was looking at that event and wondering what the track is like.

The track in NH is great because the bleachers are soooooo close to the actual racing surface, its almost scary. Two years in a row nitro cars were destroyed right in front of me when the had explosive engine failure. It was like you lit off several sticks of dynamite right in from of you.

No track I have been to puts you as close to the cars as NH, but even with that I still like the one at Evansville Fl best so far.  There is just something about the Gator-Nationals that it has much energy and fan excitement.

That said, I have not been to Texas ;-)

I have been to my share of tracks, the best track to see racing up close was Lions, mind you I was a kid and that was 48 years ago but you could hold your arm out over the fence and your arm was on the track, sure miss Lions, Irwindale, OCIR but kids are not into cars like I was back in the day.
I haven't heard anything on NHRA resuming the season, guess I can call a few friends and ask them.
You do know what NHRA stands for....... "Never Have the Right Answer "

I was only listing Dracracing tracks but  boy do I remember going to Ascot in the late 60s as I lived in Lawndale and it was the closet place, my sister use to take me, those were the days.

TISK, TISK, not been to Texas huh, your loss.  Track is 12 feet in elevation and the home of many record runs.  Was there for Warren's amazing run where he did the first 200/sub 7 Prostock run that was not equaled for almost two years.  atmospheric altitude for that run was 2300 feet BELOW sea level, lots of air for him to play with.

If you come you are welcome over to the northeast of Austin and we can go shooting.
When you are up to your neck in alligators it is hard to remember your original intention was to drain the swamp

While WJ was a legend in his own time, one Pro Stock legend so over shadows all the rest for me, that I never paid attention to the class the same way after he died. Don Carlton and his Mopar Missile were just so amazing I dont know if I ever will look at Pro Stock in the same way I did as a kid. Looking at his car was almost like a seeing the Star Ship Enterprise.

In reality I did follow Pro Stock very closely, but it was never quite the same after his death.

A few more years until retirement for me, then I hope to tour the country, including as much of Texas as possible!  So let me take a rain check and I'll bring Auto mags, ammo, and if you can guide us the best BBQ or steak house in your area I'll buy the dinner!

Since there were so many issues with this barrel I'm having William turn it into a 4 1/2"  357.
Here it is currently & still lots more to finish this off.

Looks great.
Do you have a pic with the barrel mounted on the gun?
